Diego Rossi had an incredible season so far, in which he scored 12 goals for Los Angeles FC. Nevertheless, the Uruguayan striker has company in the top of the list and is being threatened by Gyasi Zardes (Columbus Crew) and Raul Ruidiaz (Seattle Sounders).

The reason we Rossi may not win the Golden Boot this season is that he will be loosing some games (at least 4) after the call-up for his national team Uruguay. The striker, aged 22, will be playing the World Cup Qualifiers against Chile (October 8) and Ecuador (October 13).  At first he was not included in the list but after the injury of Cristhian Stuani coach Oscar Tabárez decided to include him. After this, he will have to comply the protocol of COVID-19 pandemic and so will be loosing some games.

Ruidiaz is under the same situation, after the call-up to play with Peru against Paraguay (October 8) and Brazil (October 13) also for the World Cup Qualifiers.

The season still have many matches to be played and attackers will try to get as close as possible to Carlos Vela record from last year, after scoring 34 goals and getting the Golden Boot. Even though there still will be many options to score, the advantage given by Rossi in this October window might be irreversible. But if he finally does, he will be the youngest player to win the Boot since 2002, when Carlos Ruiz won it at his 23 years.
