The rumors exploded, and it seemed to be that the transfer was going to be a thing. But finally, things ended very differently. Carlos Vela was set to join Club America during the start of December, but some unexpected petitions of the Mexican attacker made the transfer completely impossible.

Vela is playing for LAFC, being one of the best paid players from the MLS with a salary of $6.3 million. The attacker appeared in the radar of America as he has a good relationship with head coach Miguel Herrera. But the trainer himself had to recognize that the chances of that move occurring were totally null.

As it was afterwards known, Vela asked America to be the best paid player of the league, with a salary higher than the one he has at LAFC. Such a thing was impossible for the Liga MX club, that rapidly dissipated the rumors about the transfer being made. It he had asked less money, things could have been different.

Vela is playing at LAFC since January 2018, when he left Real Sociedad. In Mexico everyone is waiting for his return, as he left the country in 2006, when he played for Chivas, and never came back. He even quitted the national team lately and played more than a decade in Europe, without returning to the place he was born at.
