At 30, Altidore, currently a Toronto FC player, continues to show why he is the best player to occupy the US National Team forward position. Not only does he have a great goal average but he's also a great assister. Beyond statistics, his long experience makes him to be chosen before others players.

With the US National Team, Altidore averages 1 goal every nearly 3 games. These numbers keep him gaining the confidence of his coach Gregg Berhalter. For the next Golden Cup he is the forward who would start as a starter according to the coach. He would win the race for the position against Josh Sargent, a player who currently plays for Werder Bremen.

He has been playing for Toronto FC for 5 seasons where his statistics are even better than in the national team. He did not go below double digits in any four of the five seasons and is currently one of the best forwards in MLS. Its good performance and effectiveness allow him to continue to be among the best in its country.

Although age plays a little bit against him, Berhalter knows it but he cares little as Altidore can provide experience to a very young team. Currently the United States is in a process of change where great players are appearing but of a very young age, so players like Altimore will be of the utmost importance to guide them with their experience.
