In the MLS you see more and more South American players and especially Mexican players since they are very important for the business around the league. For this same reason, the MLS could have a very big problem if either Chicharito Hernandez or Carlos Vela leaves. In addition to MLS as an organization, both LA Galaxy and LAFC would lose a lot of money without them.
Carlos Vela knew how to compete hand in hand with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to see who the best in MLS was. That personal duel that the Mexican had with the Swede made him draw the attention of the public outside the United States. Until today that Ibrahimovic is no longer in the MLS, they continue to talk about Vela and Ibrahimovic.
This expansion generated by the players who come to MLS and who are idols in their countries generates a great economic return for the league. Major MLS consumers are Latinos who reside in the United States and that was demonstrated in the two players who sold the most shirts this season: Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez.
This is how these two players are very important to MLS and its two teams. Both LAFC and LA Galaxy need these stars to be able to meet the expenses they have to have such a high roster. The advantage that both Vela and Hernandez give to MLS is visibility outside the United States, especially in Mexico.
