Cristian Pavon and Chicharito Hernandez are the two Designated Players of the LA Galaxy and for that reason there is a kind of war of egos to see who is more important. In recent days, the LA Galaxy had presented the player of the year award to Pavon and had said that Chicharito was very low level but they expected him to win it back for the next season. Now it is known that Hernandez surpasses Pavon in a category that is very important for the LA Galaxy.
The MLS released the ranking of the players who sell the most jerseys per team and the first place went to Carlos Vela of LAFC. Curiously, after Chicharito Hernandez's bad season, the Mexican was second in the overall ranking, beating players like Higuain or Josef Martinez. It must be clarified that this ranking is annual and not for this last season and the boom that Hernandez generated as soon as he arrived at LA Galaxy was very high.
Economically speaking, it is very important for the LA Galaxy to know that Chicharito Hernandez generates a lot of income from t-shirt sales and that he is ahead of the other Designated Player. Cristian Pavon, for his part, was ranked 21st and sales dropped a lot when compared to the previous year.
This reason is very important for the future of Javier Hernandez since if there was any doubt about whether his arrival at LA Galaxy was a profit or a loss, this ranking shows that it was not. If Chicharito Hernandez manages to regain his level, he can become an idol of the team and thus make him forget all the criticism he received in this last time.
