Héctor Moreno was only 20 years old when he left Pumas UNAM former club to play at AZ Alkmaar. The Dutch club signed him for $4 million, and then he started a successful professional career in Europe, where he played for RCD Espanyol, PSV Eindhoven, AS Roma and Real Sociedad.
On July 2019 he finally left Europe as a free agent and signed for Al-Gharafa. Since then, he started a new life at Qatar, where he is comfortably installed and where he wants to stay for now. But his contract ends on June 2022, so we may say that the defender is already thinking where he is going to play next.
During the last hours the name of Moreno appeared linked to Chivas. The Liga MX side could sign him if the player takes the decision to go back to his country. But the real reason why Moreno is considering to move is that he knows that at the age of 34 his contract with his club will be ending just before the World Cup.
For that reason, he considers that moving to Chivas will assure him to be playing in the moment of the World Cup. Moreno is one of the most important players of Mexico national team. He played there 104 matches and was the captain during the last two games under Gerardo Martino’s mandate.
