Carlos Vela made his debut with Mexico national team on September 2007 against Brazil on a friendly in which he played just 17 minutes. More than 10 years later and after 72 appearances, the top LAFC player decided to quit and resigned to the chance of going back to the national team.

Gerardo Martino tried to convince him but Vela wasn’t convinced and the coach said that he only wanted players with the desire to play at Mexico. After all, Martino called-up those who really want to be playing there and will play the next matches from the international break of November with them.

Vela played for the last time with Brazil, the same team with which he debuted. It was on Russia 2018 World Cup elimination on round of 16. After that, he considered that his time was over and decided to stay comfortably at Los Angeles, where he lives with his family instead of travelling with Mexico.

But recently an opportunity to bring Vela back appeared. It has to do with the chance of creating a commercial atmosphere around his return, used by the brand that sponsors both player and national team. Specialists are trying to make the move that could leave millions for the player, Mexico and the brand. But for that Vela should recapacitate and redefine his position.
