They now share neighborhood in Atlanta, have dinner together and walk together to training camp. They also share a close relationship with Scottish coach Stephen Glass. And they are also in their rookie season. But Jon Gallagher and Jake Mulraney's relationship started long ago, in Scotland.

Both players haven't have the careers they dreamed with, until now. Gallagher was am Irish standout before been rejected from Juventus academy. After that, he was denied by Olympique de Marseille and Blackburn, and end up in Singapur, having his professional debut aged 15. Years after, he arrived to the US to enrolled at Atlanta's academy, where his life changed.

Mulraney's tenure wasn't much different. His attended Queens Park Rangers youth academy in London. But he wasn't able to made his professional debut and was sent multiple times on loan to the Scottish Premier League. Ultimately, he was acquired by Heart of Midlothian FC, the popular Edinburgh team.

Before earning a spot at Atlanta's first team, Gallagher was offered to be sent on loan to Aberdeen. His coach at Atlanta 2, Stephen Glass, is a former player of the Scottish side, and recommended him to take the chance. Gallagher was sent to Aberdeen. On of his last games, before returning to America, was against Hearts. And the job of guarding the winger was of...Jake Mulraney.

After the game, both Irishmen chat a bit and got to know each other. By a stock of luck, an year later the duo is together at Atlanta United. Moreover, Stephen Glass is now the first squad head coach. The defender earned his spot as he arrived back in January. The winger is take advantage of Pity Martínez's transfer and Josef Martínez's injury.
