Six South American players of great passage through the MLS left the league after receiving offers from different parts of the world. The most expensive sale was Gonzalo Martínez at $18 million. The cheapest departure was the Ignacio Piatti, who went on a free transfer to San Lorenzo de Almagro. 

The first to leave MLS was Hector Villalba. The former Atlanta United player was sold at a low figure, which was not disclosed, to Libertad of Paraguay. In the MLS he played 82 games and scored 21 goals. In early February, it was Venezuelan Jefferson Savarino who left Real Salt Lake in a record sale of $ 2 million. In his three seasons in the MLS he scored 21 goals and provided 21 assists.

On February 10, Ignacio Piatti left the Monstreal Impact. After six seasons in the Canadian team he returned to Argentina to play in San Lorenzo de Almagro. The Ecuadorian Romario Ibarra also left the league, after being transferred from Minnesota United to Pachuca in an amount that was not known. Ibarra played only one season but scored 5 goals in 17 games.

The last South American to leave the league was Gonzalo Martínez. The "Pity" only played 39 games and scored 7 goals. Its sale was for $ 18 million to Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
