Javier Hernandez is easily recognizable for many aspects when you watch him on the field. One of those is that he will always be seen wearing shirt number 14. The Mexican star has made from that identification as a whole trademark for him, no matter if it is in Real Madrid, in Manchester United, in LA Galaxy or in the Mexican national team.

Many players are used to have a lucky number or a favorite one to wear every time they can in all types of leagues. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo always liked to use number 7 in his shirt. he started using it in Manchester United and took it in the Portugal’s national team as soon as former Real Madrid star Luis Figo retired. He only gave it up when he arrived to Real Madrid and David Beckham was using it.

All of them have a reason, there is usually an important life story that make them want to keep their number and take it everywhere. And Javier Hernández does have his arguments to choose number 14. But when it all began it was not exactly like that. Since his debut for Chivas de Guadalajara in Liga MX, he was randomly assigned that.

Once he established himself in the Mexican giants, he started scoring lots of goals. Then, he decided to keep it every time he could, that’s how he carried it in Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, Sevilla and now in Los Angeles Galaxy.
