On January 2020, Javier Hernández surprisingly decided to leave Sevilla FC and signed for Los Angeles Galaxy, the MLS side that paid $9 million for him. With that move, Chicharito ended his career in Europe, where he played from 2010 to 2020, a complete decade among top sides.

The Mexican attacker represented Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and, of course, Sevilla. But Chicharito was formed in Chivas de Guadalajara, and it was a surprise that he decided not to return to the Liga MX side after leaving Europe.

Such a decision had to do with many things, but they key aspect is that the forward thought that the tranquility and the quality of life that he can have at the United States was going to be clearly better than the one at Mexico. Despite his love for Chivas, he then opted to move to LA Galaxy.

Other reasons are linked to the economic condition, as CH14 is one of the best paid players in the MLS and gains a fortune that Chivas could hardly pay. Even when having a bad season, Chicharito was not blamed by the fans and could start working with calm to recover for the next season, something that he won’t be able to do in Chivas.

A bad start

Despite the illusion that LA Galaxy fans had with Chicharito; his start was not the one expected at the MLS. The striker played 12 matches for his new team, scoring just two goals and suffering an injury that sent him out of the field. His side could not even qualify to the MLS Cup Playoffs and head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto was sacked after a bad campaign.
