Javier Hernández is one of Mexico’s biggest characters in soccer history. ‘Chicharito’ has had an extraordinary career, playing in giants like Manchester United and Real Madrid, winning lots of titles like he did later playing for Sevilla. More recently, he joined MLS’ Los Angeles Galaxy. Now, his former coach Miguel Herrera was surprisingly critic on him.

Coached by Herrera, Hernández scored a goal in the 2014 World Cupheld in Brazil. In that match, he netted the 3-1 against Croatia, to ensure Mexico’s break through to the second round. He came in as a substitute in the four matches played by Mexico, who were knocked out with controversy against Netherlands.

Herrera, who coached Mexico’s national team from 2013 to 2015, pointed out that the country has currently, such as Hugo Sánchez, Rafa Márquez and Cuauhtémoc Blanco were. Still, he admitted Javier Hernández must be recognized because of being the top scorer ever in the national team’s history.

“He lived great moments, but he had an unfortunate with the Manchester United coach so he had to leave. We can’t forget he’s the national team’s top scorer ever. He is treated like if he hadn’t done anything. It’s not easy, he is there, and he will be there until somebody moves him aside as himself did with Jared Borghetti”, said Herrera talking to journalist Mara Patricia Castañeda.
