Zlatan Ibrahimovic covertly referred to Los Angeles FC player Carlos Vela, saying that it took him only 2 seasons to be the best player in MLS history and that no player who currently plays is even equal. Clearly this message was directed to Carlos Vela since both were questioned by who was the MVP of the MLS.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic came to MLS as the best player in the league, but Carlos Vela was having an incredible season as an LAFC scorer. LA Galaxy raved about the striker and after a few games he was already showing why he was the best. The tension between Ibrahimovic and Vela grew as they both scored goals.

Vela silenced Zlatan Ibrahimovic when the two met and Vela took it out with a hat-trick beating Ibrahimovic. In addition Ibrahimovic could not be champion with LA Galaxy and returned to Italy to play in Milan. In the 2018/1019 season he not only surpassed Ibrahimovich as a scorer, but Vela won the MLS MVP award.

When Ibrahimovic made it to Serie A again, he said that MLS fans could see Baseball again as there was nothing interesting left to watch in MLS. That the MLS king and the top scorer was gone. Carlos Vela, for his part, is returning from an injury that does not allow him to play the remainder of the MLS regular phase with Los Angeles FC
