Devin Kirtz was one of the classic characters in the New York Red Bulls show team. After about five years of entertaining soccer fans with his freestyle moves, he decided to trade his cleats and tricks for a ukulele and a guitar. Consequently, he’s hoping to keep scoring as a soul-pop artist with a new single out called “Best Friends,” which was released on August 21.
Songs have been Kirtz new objective. He has released different kind of singles since leaving the soccer field in 2012 after being signed right out of Millikan High School by the New York Red Bulls, where he played for one of their freestyle show teams called the Wingers.
“It was basically like the Harlem Globetrotters of soccer. So we played the MLS teams and it was essentially like a trick team,” he said. It seems that soccer, one of his greatest passions had finally step into a second term. "Soccer was something I was good at…but I was always into music so I grew up playing guitar, singing and writing songs,” Kirtz finally explained.
