According to Jason Longshore, JJ Williams has moved to Atlanta United’s USL affiliate for the remainder of the USL season. The young promise was one of The Five Stripes new arrivals and didn't reach expectations. So now, he will play in a lower division to gain continuity.
Atlanta signed Williams from USL side Birmingham Legion, where he was on loan from MLS. With the confirmed departure of Gonzalo Pity Martinez it seemed that he would start to have chances to play in the first team. Some people thought also that recent signing Eric López would start to be at to the first team squad.
However, no much movements where confirmed yet. Atlanta United will still have the same squad and Williams won't have the chance he was looking for. Moreover, went through a 10 day protocol prior due to the global pandemic to joining up with the team.
