LA Galaxy had a tremendous game on Sunday night against Vancouver Whitecaps. The team coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto arrived to Week 19 with a streak of six games loosing and rumors about the head coach leaving. But, despite all that context, Barros Schelotto decided not to count on Chicharito from the start and sat him on the bench.
Surprisingly, it was Colombian Yony Gonzalez who played from the start. When asked about him decision after the game, Barros Schelotto said that he saw at trainings that Gonzalez was doing very well and considered that to beat a tough defense as the one of Vancouver Whitecaps he needed him more than Chicharito.
Despite the coachs decision, things changed soon in the game. After 50 minuted played, Gonzalez got injured and Barros Schelotto called Chicharito. The Mexican attacker played the rest of the game completing four shots and failing a clear opportunity to score at the end of the game after an assist from Argentinian Cristian Pavón.
LA Galaxy finally ended their negative streak but are still in the last position of the Western Conference. After 17 games played they have only gained 18 points and are four positions away from the playoffs zone, to where they will try to get in their last five games of the regular season.
