2020 wasn’t a normal year and less for soccer, as the COVID-19 pandemic paused all the competitions that had to be postponed. After much uncertainty of what was going to be done with the FIFA Club World Cup to be held on Qatar, the organisms decided to reschedule the competition for February.
Originally settled to December, the tournament will now take place during the first days of the second month of the year. And that means a new motivation for those clubs who are playing regional competitions trying to get their ticket to the great even that will take place at Doha.
There are already two teams qualified for the Club World Cup: Bayern Munich, for winning the Champions League, and Al Duhail, Qatar Stars League winners. They’ll be waiting for continental champions of Concacaf (North and Central America), Conmebol (South America), AFC (Asia), OFC (Oceania) and CAF (Africa).
On the Concacaf Champions League Carlos Vela will try to guide his team to the title. On the next stage, LAFC will be facing Cruz Azul and that means a huge new motivation for the Mexican to try to fight at his 31 years old to compete for one of the most important tournaments on the world.
