Carlos Vela keeps showing that he is at a tremendous level at the MLS. The Mexican attacker had a very strange season, after suffering injuries that let him out of the majority of the games with LAFC. When he came back, he proved all his level and his conditions and performed once again as expected.
In the last game of the regular season, Vela scored against Portland Timbers, and he netted his 52 goal in the MLS regular season, the same amount that Zlatan Ibrahimovic had in his first three seasons in the U.S. league. Now that he equalized the record from Zlatan, the Mexican attacker will try to overcome him.
LAFC finished seventh in the Wester Conference, and they will now face the second team in the league, Seattle Sounders. After all there was a difference of just seven points between these two clubs that will now be facing on the MLS Cup Playoffs. LAFC will also play the Concachampions quarter-finals against Cruz Azul soon.
Vela is both no. 10 and captain of LAFC and had a superb season so once again. He arrived to the club on January 2018 after LAFC paid more than $5 million for him. Last year he won the Golden Boot award, that now was gained by his companion Uruguayan Diego Rossi.
