Carlos Vela had a very strange season this year. The Mexican attacker was injured during several amounts of months an in his comeback he scored a goal in El Trafico for LAFC against LA Galaxy. But, Vela, top-scorer during the last season in the MLS, will now see his actual report depart.

Vela achieved to score 34 goals last season, being the player in MLS history who scored the most in a single season overcoming Josef Martínez record, who scored 31 goals the previous season. But, this year, Vela won't maintain his record as his companion the Uruguayan Diego Rossi is set to end with it.

Rossi has scored 12 goals during this season and is being followed very closely just by Gyasi Zardes, who scored 11. If things maintain this way, the Uruguayan will end with Vela's mark and will also be the top-scorer with fewer goals in a single season in a season, after a very strange campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just five South Americans have finished the season as the top-scorers. Vela and Martínez were the lasts ones and before them two Brazilians reached that achievement: Luciano Emílio in 2007 scoring 20 goals for DC United and Camilo Sanvezzo in 2013 scoring 22 goals for Vancouver Withecaps.
