Carlos Vela marked the history of LAFC since his arrival. The Mexican attacker was playing at Real Sociedad when an offer from the MLS side arrived, and he moved for more than $5.5 million. In Los Angeles he comfortably installed with his family and had the tranquility to perform as he knows.

The last season he received both MLS MVP and MLS top-scorer awards, with an historical record, and during the current campaign he suffered an injury and couldn’t show his best level so far. However, Vela is one of the best players on the league and, what’s for sure, the most popular one.

MLS published the report of jerseys sold during the season at the official store of the U.S. league and the one of Vela at LAFC made it to the top. The second place is occupied by Chicharito Hernández, who had a bad year with LA Galaxy and the podium is completed with Josef Martínez, from Atlanta United.

The list proves once again how popular Vela is in the U.S. After his injury, he came back and played four games at the end of the regular season, scoring two goals (one in El Trafico) and giving an assist. Now LAFC will have a tremendous clash against Seattle Sounders on the MLS Cup Playoffs.
