Alex Ring, captain of the New York City Football Club, is playing worse every day. End of a cycle?

Despite scoring goals in the last games he played, the left winger has the worst statistics in the team and his game is becoming detrimental for New York City.

Ronny Deila, the New York City manager, has experimented with Alex Ring as a left winger in recent games despite the player always standing out as a defensive midfielder. In his new position, the player has scored three goals in his last five games. Thanks to their goalscoring contributions, the team has five games without losing, being its best streak of the season.

But a recent twitter thread (@EganSoccerWords) shows his poor ability to attack from the left sector, with few skills to dribble and face 1vs1 defenders. Against Cincinatti, he only completed 71.4% of passes in the opposite field, being the second worst in New York City behind Gudmundur Thórarinsson.

In the match against Cincinatti, his only positive statistic was that of receiving the ball. Will it be time for coach Ronny Deila to put Ring back in midfield and use players like Mitrita and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi as left wingers? With 13 points out of 15, the option of change does not seem to happen.
