As Real Madrid intensifies its preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup, conducting its second training session today at The Gardens North County District Park, new head coach Xabi Alonso is meticulously assessing his squad. After just four training sessions, Alonso has reportedly been significantly impressed by Dani Ceballos, seeing him as a vital component in the team's midfield, particularly as they seek to fill the void left by Luka Modrić.

Alonso emphasized his coaching philosophy, stating, "We depend on the players, and in this squad, there are players of a very high competitive level. The challenge, now, is to make a team, unleash the potential of these footballers, and get us all working as one. Because if we do that, we'll have a very... I'm not going to say unstoppable... but a very powerful force."

Within these early training sessions, Ceballos has clearly caught Alonso's eye. The coach views him as a player who contributes significantly to the team's dynamic. Ceballos's "good touch on the ball" and "distinct characteristics compared to the rest of the players" are seen as major assets. Alonso believes Ceballos can add considerable value and "will be very important, as long as he is physically well, without injuries, because if he has that continuity, he will be very useful from the second unit."

Xabi aims to identify a midfielder in training

With Luka Modrić's likely departure, Alonso is actively searching for a midfielder who can step into that crucial role. He is confident that through continued testing and observation, he will find the right fit within his current squad. Ceballos's strong showing in these initial training sessions positions him favorably for a significant role.

All eyes will be on Real Madrid's midfield in the upcoming Club World Cup, where Ceballos is expected to make an impact and potentially showcase his renewed importance under Xabi Alonso.
