The Argentine journalist, who is a friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, Martín Liberman, gives his thoughts on the rumors of the Portuguese striker potentially going to the Liga MX team Monterrey CF. Liberman heard of the rumors that came out a couple of days ago, but he doesn't believe that Ronaldo would go to Mexico to play at Monterrey CF, but not because of the level. Liberman believes that Liga MX is a more competitive league than the Saudi Pro League. The Argentine journalist questions how Ronaldo would be paid in terms of his high salary, but it would be a great chance for the Portuguese striker to compete at a higher level than in Saudi Arabia.

Liberman believes that Monterrey could make the signing of Ronaldo possible because the Mexican league itself could pay a part of the Portuguese striker's salary, and the club pays the rest. It is unsure if Monterrey would be willing to pay a high salary, as the revenue the club and the league could get may be worth the investment.

Ronaldo is still looking to be competitive, as he was the top goalscorer of 2023 while playing for Saudi Arabia. Liberman mentions that Ronaldo is very professional in performing at a high level with Al Nassr, as he wants to win titles, but the team has lacked that same mentality when it comes to winning trophies. Al Nassr is second in the Saudi Pro League, with 68 points, while Al Hilal is first with 77 points.

Liberman prefers Ronaldo to return to Portugal

The Argentine journalist believes it would be a great way for Ronaldo to end his career if he returned to the Portuguese league to play with Sporting Lisbon. It could be a closing chapter for the Portuguese striker since he started his professional career at Sporting, and Ronaldo has said he wants to return to the club one day. His contract with Al Nassr expires in the summer of 2025, and with no signs of slowing down, anything is possible.
