Lionel Messi is regarded as one of the nicest teammates during his time on both his former and current teams. FC Barcelona, PSG, Inter Miami, and the Argentina national team players mostly say great things about the Argentine star, and his humility didn’t stop when he arrived in the MLS. A few players at Inter Miami have admitted to feeling intimated by the presence of Messi during the team training sessions. Emerson Rivaldo Rodriguez is an Inter Miami player who is out on loan with Millionarios in Colombia. The winger spoke with Caracol Radio about training with Messi at Inter Miami, and he said, “My teammates would be afraid to stick a leg out against Messi, but he said, ‘No relax. Attack normally.’ One isn’t accustomed to being with big stars like that. They are on another level.”

Rodriguez continues to explain how it was the first time meeting Messi in the training ground at Inter Miami. He said, “The first time I saw him, I was sweating with nerves. I greeted him normally, and he asked me where I was from. I didn’t talk much with Messi, when we trained he told me things, but only about football, work. But it was a very nice experience to be able to train with him, Suárez, Busquets, and Jordi Alba, who are some greats.”

Another Messi teammate who shared a cool experience with the Argentine star was Julian Gressel. The American player spoke about Messi’s humbleness after he assisted five goals against the New York Red Bulls in the MLS. Gressel said, “After the game, I shook his [Messi] hand and said: ‘5 assists huh’. He said ‘Yeah’ all shy, looking down, smiling very shyly.” “He is very humble; when he is happy, we are all happy.”

Lionel Messi’s next game with Inter Miami

Messi was sidelined by Inter Miami manager Gerardo Martino this week in the Inter Miami vs Orlando City game in the MLS. Martino was waiting until the last few days to see if the Argentine star will play against DC United today at the Chase Stadium. Messi is expected to play in the match today, and if not, he will likely feature in the next Inter Miami match against Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada.
