Manchester United wishes to bring in Zinedine Zidane this summer, but Bayern Munich has begun showing interest in appointing him for next season. According to the Spanish newspaper MARCA, it becomes more difficult for Man United to bring in the French manager as the German giants have reportedly contacted Zidane's agent. Zidane has also shown interest in returning to football management again after his last coaching job at Real Madrid in 2021.

Reports in Germany suggest that the news of Bayern Munich's contact with Zidane is not true, but the French manager is a candidate to take over Bayern Munich next season. Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that Zidane was discussed as a potential replacement when there were talks of Tuchel's premature dismissal weeks ago. Now, Bayern are focused on appointing their former manager Julian Nagelsmann, who is the current coach of the German national team.

Zidane's last game as the head coach for Real Madrid was at the end of the 2020/2021 season. Real Madrid defeated Villarreal 2-1 on the last matchday of the La Liga season. It wasn't enough for them to win La Liga that season, as Atletico Madrid won the league by two points. Atleti finished the season with 86 points, while Real Madrid had 84 points.

Candidates to replace Erik Ten Hag for Manchester United

While Zidane, Roberto De Zerbi, and Julian Nagelsmann seem off the lost for candidates to replace Ten Hag this summer, one name that has been heavily rumored to join is Gareth Southgate. The English manager has been linked with the job for the past couple of weeks, but the coach has denied any talks about becoming the new Manchester United manager.
