Edgar Davids, the Dutch football legend, made waves this weekend with the highly anticipated reissue of the Nike Total 90 III. The re-release of the iconic boot was first announced earlier this year, and Davids had the honor of debuting the redesigned footwear at Travis Scott’s ‘Secreto Maximus’ street football tournament, which took place at ComplexCon's ‘Cactus Colosseum’.
The tournament, which was a nod to Nike’s legendary 2002 ‘Secret Tournament’ ad (also known as ‘Scorporio KO’ or ‘The Cage’), brought together some of football’s biggest stars, including Thierry Henry, Ronaldo Nazário (R9), Francesco Totti, and Edgar Davids himself. The event recalled the excitement of the original ‘Secret Tournament’ that had been staged to build anticipation for the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan.
‘Secreto Maximus’, a street football event inspired by Scott’s ‘Circus Maximus’ world tour and Nike’s ‘Secret Tournament’, proved to be the ideal venue to reveal the reissue of the Nike Total 90 III. Davids wore a white and grey colorway of the T90 III, which immediately caught the attention of football fans and sneakerheads alike.
Earlier this year, Nike confirmed that it would be re-releasing lifestyle versions of the iconic boot in three distinct colorways, with the white and grey version worn by Davids this weekend stealing the show. Although Nike has not yet revealed an official release date for the new T90 IIIs, the appearance of the boot at the tournament has fans eagerly awaiting its availability.
