A new wave of changes appears to be on the horizon for Real Madrid. The Merengues remain committed to acquiring top talent, and with the transfer window in full swing, speculation is rife regarding the future of several key players. Among them, Rodrygo Goes, the Brazilian "number 11," finds his position at the club increasingly under question. His recent limited appearances, notably remaining on the bench against Pachuca in the Club World Cup, have fueled rumors of a potential departure from the Spanish capital.
The Premier League has emerged as a primary suitor for Rodrygo, with Arsenal and Manchester City reportedly leading the chase. For a while, this created a quiet bidding war for the talented attacker.
However, it seems Arsenal's pursuit might soon cool down, according to information from Rudy Galetti. The Gunners' sporting director had been eyeing multiple wingers, including Nico Williams and Kenan Yildiz. Both players now appear out of reach for Arsenal, with FC Barcelona closing in on Williams and Yildiz on the verge of a contract renewal with Juventus. Despite Rodrygo being a significant interest, Arsenal isn't ruling out a move for Jamie Byone-Gittens, the Borussia Dortmund attacker, whom Galetti's sources suggest is a clear target for the Gunners, valued at approximately €60 million.
If Rudy Galetti's latest information proves accurate, it could spell troubling news for Rodrygo Goes' prospects of leaving Real Madrid. Losing Arsenal as a serious contender would significantly reduce his options to continue his career at an elite European club. With Arsenal reportedly focusing on Byone-Gittens, the only remaining high-level destination for the Madrid number 11 appears to be Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola is known to be keen on Rodrygo and is expected to push for his signing until the very end of the transfer window. However, a clear message has reportedly come from the Etihad Stadium's top brass: their budget for the transfer market has been considerably trimmed due to previous expenditures, including those related to the Club World Cup. Furthermore, there's a natural reluctance to meet Real Madrid's hefty €100 million asking price for Rodrygo.
Both Rodrygo Goes and Jamie Byone-Gittens (if Arsenal pursues him) find themselves in the final stretch of potential exits from their current clubs. Rodrygo's situation, in particular, is becoming increasingly complex, dependent on multiple variables as his potential departure from Real Madrid hangs in the balance.
