After six years with PSG, the Brazilian looked to play elsewhere in Europe. Because of his high wage demands, many clubs in Europe could not afford his services and decided to join the Saudi League, which has brought many great players from Europe. Some of them who joined in the summer were Sadio Mane, Karim Benzema, and N’Golo Kante.
Before leaving PSG, Neymar suffered an ankle injury in March, which kept him out for several months before the season ended. Neymar left PSG awkwardly as current PSG boss Luis Enrique didn't have him in his plans for this season. Neymar was also desperate to join FC Barcelona for this season, but their economic issues didn't allow the move to happen.
After the move to Saudi Arabia, the player was determined to deliver good performances to prepare for the upcoming Copa America with Brazil. Neymar played five games for Al-Hilal, where he got two assists and scored a gola in the AFC Champions League. The international break in October would change the Brazlian’s future plans and his new club’s plans.
A serious injury he suffered against Uruguay caused him to have an anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] injury. The player has missed 27 games with Al-Hilal and is confirmed to miss out on the 2024 Copa America this summer.

Jorge Jesus, Al-Hilal’s manager, recently spoke about Neymar and his views on the Brazilian. The Portuguese manager compares him to Ronaldo and says he lacks Ronaldo's passion for the game. Jesus says, “Neymar is the opposite of Ronaldo. Ronaldo has more passion for football and he makes it his priority. Neymar has more passion for other things linked to his private life, which he puts first.”
Al-Hilal has done well with Neymar as they remain first in the Saudi Pro League table with 53 points and suffer no losses. Their other summer signings, Mitrovic, Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Milinkovic-Savic, and Bounou, have helped the team perform well and are cruising to a league title.
