Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will prepare for the new MLS season by participating in a preseason cup in Saudi Arabia. Messi and Inter Miami will be playing Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr. The two friendlies will be played at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, and the first game for Messi will be against Al Hilal on January 29th. Two days later, on February 1st, Inter Miami will take on Al-Nassr.
Inter Miami's MLS Season will start on February 21st when they take on Salt Lake at the DRV PNK Stadium in Miami. Lionel Messi posted the announcement of Inter Miami's participation on Instagram. The Argentine icon has expressed his excitement through his post about the preseason cup he and his team will participate in.
Messi said on Instagram, "I can't wait to be part of the Riyadh Season Cup with my team, Inter Miami CF, as we face top Saudi clubs in a historic championship."
The announcement excites football fans worldwide because it would mean watching Messi play against Cristiano Ronaldo again. This wouldn't be Messi and his team's first trip to Saudi Arabia to play Cristiano Ronaldo. In January 2023, while playing for PSG, Messi played the Riyadh All-Star team in a crazy 5-4 victory for the French club.
Messi and Ronaldo scored in that game, with Ronaldo grabbing a brace and Messi scoring one. There could be more superstars for this year`s game in Saudi Arabia, as Luis Suarez was confirmed as a new Inter Miami player a few weeks back. There is also heavy speculation that Philippe Coutinho will join the Miami side soon.
Sadly for football fans, a reunion between Messi and Neymar won't happen for the Al-Hilal game due to the Brazilian ACL injury he suffered last year. The game between Inter Miami and Al-Nassr seems to create a lot of excitement as the game date approaches. Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Sadio Mane, Laporte, and more will also look to play this exciting game at the start of February.
