Although for many there is no doubt that Lionel Messi is one of the best soccer players in history, his numbers in the current MLS season with Inter Miami, with whom he was eliminated, do not highlight him in any individual award, something that gives him the tools to increase his criticism to his haters.

Why Do Some People Hate Lionel Messi?

While Lionel Messi is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, he also has his fair share of detractors. Here are some common reasons why people might dislike Messi:

  1. Jealousy and Envy: Messi's unparalleled success and talent can evoke feelings of jealousy and envy in some individuals.
  2. Perceived Favoritism: Some believe that Messi has benefited from preferential treatment from referees and governing bodies.
  3. Team-Oriented Success: While Messi is undoubtedly a phenomenal player, some argue that his success is largely due to the strong teams he has played for, particularly Barcelona.
  4. Playing Style: Some critics find his style of play to be overly reliant on dribbling and individual skill, rather than a more collective approach.
  5. National Team Performances: Despite his individual brilliance, some argue that Messi's performance with the Argentine national team, particularly in major tournaments, has been inconsistent.
  6. Rival Fanbases: Fans of rival teams, especially Real Madrid, may have a natural dislike for Messi due to the intense rivalry between the two clubs.

It's important to note that these are just some of the reasons why some people may dislike Messi. Ultimately, opinions on players are subjective, and what one person admires, another may criticize.

The Messi Debate: A Matter of Opinion

Lionel Messi is widely considered one of the greatest footballers of all time. His exceptional skill, vision, and goal-scoring ability have made him a global icon. His numerous accolades, including multiple Ballon d'Or awards and World Cup titles, further solidify his legendary status.

However, the debate about the greatest footballer of all time is often subjective and depends on individual preferences and criteria. Some may argue that players like Pelé or Diego Maradona deserve equal recognition, while others may point to Cristiano Ronaldo as a worthy rival.

Ultimately, the question of who is the best is a matter of opinion. What's undeniable is that Messi's impact on the sport of football has been immense, and his legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
