Amauri Carvalho, the former Palermo marksman who shone brightly for Italian giants Juventus, has traded the roar of the stadium for the hum of entrepreneurship in Miami. The Brazilian-born Italian ex-footballer, who hung up his boots after a distinguished 20-year career, has successfully transitioned from the pitch to a thriving business empire, leaving behind the glory days of Serie A to pursue his passions.
After enjoying numerous triumphs with Juventus, Amauri chose to pivot towards the world of business. He's now the proud owner of 'Gioia Italy,' an authentic Italian restaurant nestled in Hallandale Beach, and has ventured into the creation of football-themed wines and beers. These new endeavors reflect his deep-seated love for the beautiful game, even as his playing days are behind him.
In a recent interview with MARCA, Amauri openly shared his journey, reflecting on the profound impact football had on his life and the achievements it enabled. For him, playing football was always a cherished dream, a sentiment he articulates with heartfelt conviction. "I feel very happy and very proud to have been able to fulfill my dream. Because football, for me, was a childhood dream, since I was eight years old. Like most Brazilians, I come from a humble family. And, honestly, football was the only hope, the only real possibility to change my destiny. And not just mine, but also my dad's, my mom's, and my sisters'," he shared.
His path to professional football was unconventional. "I had the opportunity to travel to Italy when I was 19. In Brazil, I didn't have a youth academy trajectory, and it was difficult for me there. In Italy, everything changed," he recalled, acknowledging the pivotal role his move to Europe played in his career.
A lifelong admirer of Real Madrid, Amauri even recalled widespread speculation in 2010 that he might join the Spanish giants. However, this dream move ultimately remained just a rumor.
Today, Amauri is enjoying a relaxed lifestyle, dedicating his time to his flourishing businesses and indulging in his creative passion for winemaking. His unique range of wines and beers pays homage to some of football's greatest legends, including Ronaldinho, Iván Zamorano, Roberto Carlos, Marco Materazzi, Javier Mascherano, and Wesley Sneijder. It's a testament to a life well-played and a future being enjoyed on his own terms.
