Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid created huge expectations, especially regarding his partnership with Vinicius Jr. However, recent matches have shown that their connection is far from ideal, which is affecting the team’s performance. According to journalist Anton Mena from Cadena Ser, the relationship between the two stars "is not as good as it seems," and this is already becoming a problem for Los Blancos.

A duo that is not clicking

When Mbappe was announced as Madrid’s new signing, many expected him to develop an immediate understanding with Vinicius. But the reality on the pitch tells a different story. In attack, they rarely look for each other, and in several key moments, both have chosen to go solo rather than pass to a better-positioned teammate, wasting clear scoring opportunities.

A prime example of this was seen in the hard-fought win against Rayo Vallecano. On multiple occasions, both Vinicius and Mbappe decided to take matters into their own hands instead of assisting one another. This not only disrupted the team’s attacking flow but also highlighted a lack of chemistry that could cause issues going forward.

"They want to sell us a brotherhood that doesn’t exist"

Anton Mena’s statements were clear and direct. The journalist insisted that the relationship between Vinicius and Mbappe is not what many believe:

"They want to sell us a brotherhood that doesn’t exist. From what I see, this is hurting Madrid’s game. The two don’t look for each other and don’t link up."

This lack of understanding is not just affecting their attacking play but also their defensive coordination. Without proper synergy, the team loses balance and can become vulnerable against opponents who exploit the spaces they leave behind.

How can Ancelotti fix this issue?

Carlo Ancelotti is an experienced manager and knows he must address this problem quickly. The question is whether he will tweak the system to encourage better link-up play between Vinicius and Mbappe or take more drastic measures, such as adjusting their roles within the squad.

One thing is certain—if Madrid wants to compete for every title this season, their two biggest stars must develop a stronger connection. Otherwise, the team could suffer in crucial moments.
