Inter Miami, the club led by Lionel Messi, announced on Wednesday that Argentine goalkeeper Óscar Ustari has signed a one-year contract extension. The 38-year-old will remain with the team through the 2025 season, continuing his role as a reserve goalkeeper and veteran presence in the squad.

Raúl Sanllehí, the club's president of football operations, praised Ustari's contributions to the team: "His experience and leadership have been valuable in our locker room over the past months of the 2024 season, and he will continue to be an asset for our club."

A career spanning continents

Ustari's long and successful career has seen him play for numerous top clubs across the globe, including Getafe in Spain, Sunderland in England, Pachuca in Mexico, and his home club Boca Juniors in Argentina. His vast experience has made him a reliable figure in the dressing room.

The Argentine goalkeeper helped Inter Miami secure the MLS Supporters' Shield last year, marking a major achievement for the club. However, the team’s playoff campaign ended early, as they were eliminated in the first round by Atlanta United.

  • Contract renewal: Ustari signs for one more season with Inter Miami.
  • Veteran presence: His leadership in the locker room has been invaluable.
  • Previous success: Ustari contributed to Inter Miami's MLS Supporters' Shield win in 2024.
  • International career: Ustari has played for top clubs in Spain, England, Mexico, and Argentina.
