Manchester City is usually one of the teams that invests the most in the European market. The citizen club has a lot of money thanks to the investments of the Arab sheikhs. The large investment led him to form a long-term project that was consecrated last season with winning the Champions League. The presence of Josep Guardiola as coach was a key factor for the celestial team to achieve the goal it had for so many years. To keep the Catalan for so many seasons, Manchester City made him the highest paid coach in the world.

Guardiola earned the chance to be such an outstanding technical director based on everything he achieved with FC Barcelona. In between he had an experience at Bayern Munich, where he won local titles but could not transcend on the international level, which is the great objective of each season for the Bavarian team. Barcelona does not usually fall far behind in terms of hiring, although its economic situation does not allow it to invest a lot of money, something that City does.

However, the Spanish team has renowned players. For example, in the last transfer market Ilkay Gundogan arrived, precisely from Manchester City. The midfielder was one of the Citizens' best players and a leader. However, the German decided to end his contract and not renew it, so he arrived at Barcelona as a free agent. Furthermore, in the Catalan squad there are other stars such as Robert Lewandowski and Marc André Ter Stegen.

The player that City and Barcelona want

Xavi Hernández took charge of the Barcelona first team trying to recover the essence of the club. As a disciple of Guardiola, the former club player tries to play a good game, with many associations and the ball on the ground. A player who can fit perfectly into that style is Joshua Kimmich. The German midfielder plays for Bayern Munich and the media ESPN linked him, once again, to the Catalan team.

For its part, Manchester City is also attentive to what may happen with Kimmich, whose contract ends in 2025. The specialized portal Transfermarkt lists the 28-year-old midfielder at $80 million. The big difference between the English club and the Spanish one is that City has an amount of money that Barcelona does not have.
