This Monday, February 27, one of the most important events in the world of soccer took place, as The Best awards gala, created years ago by FIFA, were awarded to the best soccer players of the year, globally speaking. Players like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Emiliano Dibu Martinez, Cristian Cuti Romero, Virgil Van Dijk, Achraf Hakimi and many more, witnessed the wonderful event and hoped to win their respective prize. In addition, many women's soccer entities were also present.

Some of the best players in the world who were not present were Erling Haaland, Cristiano Ronaldo or Karim Benzema, the latter was even nominated for the best footballer in the world, along with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Andres Messi. Thibaut Courtois did not attend either, and he was also nominated to be the best goalkeeper of the year, in addition, he seemed to be a favourite, however in the end Emiliano Dibu Martinez took him for his fantastic saves in the World Cup. Anyway, the ceremony was a complete success, as FIFA had planned, and the show left more than one curious anecdote, interesting to tell.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dominated world soccer for more than a decade. They shared countless individual awards between them and starred in the biggest rivalry in history. However, the debate about who is the best ended when Leo won the World Cup in Qatar and the 'Bug' decided to sign for Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia. Now, while the "Flea" achieved The Best, the Portuguese obtained his first award in the Middle East.

The top winner of the Ballon d'Or (7) was the star of the ceremony held by FIFA. The captain of the Argentine team obtained his second The Best, after beating Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé in the votes. Thus, the man from Rosario continues to expand his story and confirms that he is the best footballer of all time.

While Leo does not stop shining in Europe, Cristiano Ronaldo begins to make a difference in Saudi Arabia. The former striker for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus was chosen as the best player of February in the Saudi tournament. In Al-Nassr's last four games, the 'Bug' scored eight goals and contributed two assists. He participated in all the goals that his team scored.

Lionel Messi looks for a record that Cristiano Ronaldo has in Europe:

After Cristiano's departure from European football, the 'Flea' Messi will go after a record held by the Portuguese in the Champions League. The Portuguese is the top scorer in the continental tournament with 140 goals, while Lionel Messi has 129. The Argentine national team is still alive in the competition and will compete with Bayern Munich, in search of access to the quarterfinals.
