Lionel Messi is, for many, the best player in history and idolatry towards him goes beyond what he does as a footballer, which is not little. Those who know him affirm that as a person he is equal to or greater than on the field, and now Juan Román Riquelme once again made it clear during his tribute match that this is so.

The captain of the Argentine National Team attended the tribute to the Boca Juniors idol at La Bombonera and received a standing ovation from the entire pitch, just as had happened at Newell's stadium, at Maxi Rodríguez's farewell match. After the meeting, in which Leo also converted, Riquelme gave personal thanks and revealed a great gesture that the Rosario had with him.

“Messi and Maradona are the two best players I have seen in my entire life. It's wonderful to have you here. I apologize to your family, Leo, that you had vacations and you stayed a couple more days, I am very grateful that you always said yes to me and for all the bosteros I am lucky to have you here, it is unforgettable, I hope you had a big moment. I love you very much," Roman said.

Messi couldn't help but get emotional after Riquelme's words

After the honoree dedicated part of his speech to Messi, the top Ballon d'Or winner had a big smile on his face and his eyes shone. As if that were not enough, the stadium gave him an ovation again and the number '10' looked at the four stands with admiration.
