Manchester City looks unstoppable as its undefeated record is still active, last Saturday they won their sixth consecutive game against Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 intense match, where even Spanish midfielder, Rodrigo, got expelled from the match. Pep Guardiola is looking forward to their next appointment at St. James Park where they will face NewCastle in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Manchester City is doing great as they are still undefeated at the Premier League and also in its UEFA Champions League record. Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola’s team looks like a hospital as he has five key playmakers in the injury reserve list (Silva, Kovacic, Stone,DeBruyne and Grealish) and another one -Rodrigo- suspended for three games.
On the other hand, NewCastle comes from a great victory against Sheffield United where they scored eight goals. Now, the Magpies will receive Manchester City in order to play the third round of the EFL Cup, or now known as the Carabao Cup, where only one of both parties will advance to the next round.
The kickoff is set to start at 2:45 pm ET/11:45 am PT and will be played at the Saint James Park Stadium in NewCastle, England. You’ll be able to watch the matchup via streaming through ESPN+, unfortunately, it won’t be broadcast on television, but you can check the LIVE coverage of the match at El Futbolero.us.
As we said before, Manchester City has too many injured key playmakers that will surely be missed by Pep Guardiola in the NewCastle matchup. DeBruyne, Stone, Silva, Kovacic and Grealish will be sidelined until further advice. Spanish midfielder, Rodrigo, is also unavailable due to a suspension of three games.
Manchester City's possible XI: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Rúben Dias, Gvardiol; Foden, Kovacic, Rodri, Dokú, Julián Álvarez; Haaland.
NewCastle's possible XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almirón, Gordon, Isak.
