Lionel Messi and Inter Miami made history together once again. The Argentine led his Florida team in the semifinals of the Leagues Cup, and they easily beat a Philadelphia Union that left much to be desired. Thus, Messi qualified for the final of the tournament.
The game never got complicated for the team coached by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, because, from the 3 minute mark, they started it winning with a great goal from Josef Martínez, and at minute 20, Lionel Messi put the cherry on the cake with a great goal from 32 meters away from the goal, the farthest goal of his career.
A goal from Jordi Alba and another from David Ruíz ended the 4-1 draw and qualified them for the final. After the match, the second semifinal was played, between Monterrey and Nashville. The Mexican team fell 2-0 against the Americans, consummating the failure of the Mexican teams in the Leagues Cup.
The Leagues Cup final is scheduled to be played this Saturday, August 19. In addition, it will be the third game that Lionel Messi plays away from home, as the match will be at GEODIS Park, Nashville, Tennessee. Will Messi manage to lift his first trophy in the United States and also, the first title in the history of Inter Miami?
