Joao Cancelo is set to become an FC Barcelona player. The signing of Cancelo is almost a done deal, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The right-back has been specifically requested by Xavi to reinforce that area of the field which has posed many problems for the Catalan team recently.

However, Joao’s arrival at Barça will have to wait, at least until next week. According to SPORT,  both clubs are still negotiating the loan of the player with a buy option clause.

As reported by the Spanish newspaper, the purchase option will be set at €25 million and will be mandatory if FC Barcelona advances beyond the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

It's worth noting that in the Catalan club, they believe it would be a "miracle" if Cancelo arrives before the weekend. Nevertheless, there are more details that are delaying a negotiation that is practically closed.

Barcelona needs funds

Diario Sport mentions that FC Barcelona is awaiting a payment from the German investment fund Libero. Without this money, Joan Laporta's team cannot register new players. This situation is also affecting players like Marcos Alonso, who has not been able to be registered so far. Consequently, Manchester City is waiting for the funds as a guarantee to finalize the negotiations.
