Vinicius' injury will keep him off the pitch in some matches.

Vinicius was substituted against Celta de Vigo after a right biceps femoris injury, Real Madrid confirmed in a statement published on their website. The last time that he has suffered a serious injury was in March 2019 in the match against Ajax. He suffered a torn ligament in his right ankle that left him out for almost two months.

He is the sixth player injured in Real Madrid at the start of the season. Vinicius joins the list of Benjamin Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Arda Güler, Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, these last two, can lose the entire season. Bad news for Carlo Ancelotti, who loses another key player. In addition to Real Madrid, Vinicius will also miss the qualifying matches with Brazil for the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti spoke about ‘Vini’s' situation, “with the international break, he will gain time for when we return. It’s an unusual situation for him: this marks his second muscular injury in over five years. We have to thank his parents because he has a spectacular genetic makeup, but it’s also important to acknowledge his professionalism... he takes exceptional care of himself before and after matches, deeply committed to his work”.

The brazilian striker will miss the matches against Getafe, Real Sociedad, Girona, Atlético de Madrid, Las Palmas and the first Champions League's match. With Brazil's National team he will miss the matches against Bolivia and Peru on September 9th and 12th.

When does Vinicius come back?

Vinicius will be out of the fields between 4 and 6 weeks. It was ruled out that the tendon was affected, which would have meant a longer-term loss. He would tentatively return in the match against Girona on Octber 9 or 10.
