Manchester City is falling over the season, as they have now two straight defeats, as Wolverhampton has managed to take away Pep Guardiola’s team undefeated streak in a very dramatic and rainy match. The Citizens were also eliminated from the EFL Cup by Newcastle in 1-0 loss during the week.

Pedro Neto, the Portuguese addition of the Wolves had an incredible outrun against Manchester City's defense in the midfield, when he successfully stole the ball from the Citizens, as he has reaching Ederson, Neto shoots to the door, but as Ruben Dias tried to stop the ball, he accidentally scored for the Wolves.

The Argentinian striker, Julian Alvarez, was able to score the first goal for the sky blues in the minute 56’ and puts things more interesting, as Manchester City wanted to prevail as the top leader of the Premier League standings and keep intact their great undefeated streak

Nevertheless, Hwang Hee-chan put in the second and definitive score in order to win the match over Manchester City, who suffered their first defeat at the Premier League tournament, and its leadership may be in trouble if Liverpool FC manages to get a victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Last time Manchester City lost a game in the Premier League was at the beginning of the 2023, when Newcastle managed to win over the Citizens in a 1-0 matchup. And the last time a team was able to score more than one point vs Manchester City, was Tottenham Hotspur who lost 4-2 versus the sky blues.

What's next for Manchester City?

Manchester City has to forget its elimination from the EFL Cup by Newcastle and focus on the Premier League and Champions League, where they have demonstrated they are the top contenders for both competitions.

For Pep Guardiola's luck, the injury reserve list has decreased, as they have key playmakers now available such as Jack Grealish and Kovacic that will surely help them to obtain more victories throughout the remainder of the season. Nevertheless, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne are still injured and will probably stay out until the end of the year.

Manchester City's schedule for the upcoming week will be: RB Leipzig for the second week of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday October the 4th; Arsenal on Sunday 8th; and Brighton Hooves on October the 21st.
