It is not a secret to anyone that Barcelona has a great academy and is usual to seeing young players that were part of ‘La Masia’ every year. Today we saw Lamine Yamal showing why he plays for one of the best teams in the world, it seemed like he played for the first team since many years before.

Yamal made his debut with Barcelona at 15 years, 9 months and 16 days, he did so on April 29, 2023 and he became the youngest debutant in the club's history. Xavi has shown him confidence and he put him in the last game against Cádiz and today he also played as a starter against Villarreal.

The 16 years old played until the 76 minute and he was the man of the match. He had 100% dribbling efficiency, contributed an assist, hit the post twice, had 90% accuracy in passes and he made 60 touches, according to Relevo.

Xavi has spoken about him in previous press conferences and believes that he can be a key piece for Barcelona. “Lamine is different. He has things from various players, for me he is an innate talent. Young people have a tremendous unconsciousness, they are not afraid, they try and they have a terrible self-confidence, that is what I see in Lamine. He has done wonderful training”, said the coach.
