The UEFA Champions League is back! And it has left us great moments from great matches during this first week. Barcelona has outstand Royal Antwerp 4-0; Manchester City won 3-1 vs Berlin Red Star, and in a pretty tight up game between Atletico Madrid against Lazio, the Italian team managed to tie the game in the final minute of the matchup.

Atletico Madrid dominated the ball possession throughout the whole game with a 52% vs a 48% from Lazio, nevertheless, the Italian club was able to shoot for more times to Madrid’s goal but unfortunately failed to score in the regular time. Atletico Madrid’s striker, Pablo Barrios was the first to score in the matchup in the 29’ minute.

Within just 20 years and 96 days, Pablo Barrios has become Atletico Madrid’s youngest player to score in his first match, making history in the UEFA Champions League. Barrios is also the youngest player from Atletico Madrid to score in this tournament, surpassing Saul Niguez's record (20 years and 334 days, he scored his first against Astana, in 2015).

The match was about to end when Ivan Provedel, Lazio’s goalkeeper, managed to score with a hat-trick on Madrid’s goal, and was able to tie the game and evade a loss for Lazio in the opening week of UCL.

Ivan Provedel new record

Lazio was saved from a loss in the first week of UEFA’s Champions League by his goalkeeper, Ivan Provedel, at the 94’ minute with an amazing hat-trick.

Now, Ivan Provedel has been added to the elite list of goalkeepers that have scored in the prestigious tournament being the fourth one to do so, and the second goalkeeper to score and not by the penalty way, following Sinan Bolat from Standard Liège in 2009.

Lazio will continue its season in the A Series facing Monza on Saturday 23rd, then vs Torino on Wednesday 27th, then vs Milan on Saturday 30th; and its second UEFA appointment will be against Celtic FC on October the 4th.
