The Argentine National Team faced Brazil at the Maracaná in a match that began with a lot of controversy before it began. The Brazilian team and the Argentine team were singing the anthem in the formal events prior to the game, when both fans began to fight, something that led to the police entering, but ended up attacking Argentine fans, who really preserved the peace between them.

By order of Lionel Messi, the Argentine national team players decided to leave the playing field due to the violence that was seen in the Maracaná stands. The situation is more uncertain than ever. After a 20-minute delay, Argentina returned to the field, and finally the game could be played, half an hour after the scheduled time.

The world champions, with Messi at the helm, tried to contain the confrontation between Argentine fans and the Rio de Janeiro police, but, faced with their fruitless efforts, they preferred to return to the locker room to wait for a solution. In the end, as we mentioned, the game resumed and there was a lot of talk about what really happened before the game. In the 37th minute of the second half, a player was sent off.

Otamendi's goal

The game saw few chances and many fouls on the part of both teams. In the end, a header from Otamendi was what scored the first goal of the game. Nicolás Otamendi headed in a cross from Giovani Lo Celso to give the world champion the lead against Brazil at the Maracaná. The game has certainly been affected by what happened before the duel.
