They spend more than $200m this season and still can't win in the Premier League

The transfer period in all leagues is coming to an end. After the closure in the top European leagues, time has run out for the other leagues in the rest of the world to make signings after an intense summer. Clearly, while some signings got sealed others did not happen. With that said, many fans were hoping to see players like Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid.

One of the teams that spent the most this season was Manchester United. Erik ten Hag's team wanted to strengthen their front line at all costs. Because of this, they took on the task of looking for a quality striker.

As a result of this, it was Rasmus Hojlund who was chosen to arrive at Old Trafford from Atalanta after good performances in Serie A. Nevertheless, he would not be the only one to signed with the Red Devils. The Dutch coach's plan was to improve United's midfield with a quality midfielder like Mason Mount who would arrive from Chelsea. To this long list would come other names such as Andre Onana, Sergio Reguilon, Sofyan Amrabat, Evans and Altay Bayindir. 

It is worth noting that most of the players arrived on loan while the others like Onana, Mount and Hojlund arrived with cost. Despite this season's quality signings, Erik ten Hag's side have not had their best league start. The team is currently in position number 13 after 2 consecutive defeats. One against Arsenal and the most recent painful defeat against Brighton. It should be noted that this has aroused fury in the fans. In one hand, some of the fans called for the departure of the Dutch coach, while others defend him by ensuring that fans are expecting the club to be sold. Moreover, United made multiple signings that put their squad as one of the most expensive in the English championship

How much United spent this season?

According to Transfermarkt, Manchester United invested $200 million this summer in signings. Nonetheless, compared to the amount invested by the last team they faced, it is a notable difference. As per Sky Sports, Brighton Hove and Albion only invested $19 million.
