Joan Laporta and FC Barcelona are going through a difficult time, at least in economic matters. The president of FC Barcelona has positioned himself in an important way as the savior of the culé team. However, things have not gone in the best possible way. The president still has a lot to correct and in light of this, the club must pay certain sanctions for past errors, such is the case of UEFA.

FC Barcelona is involved in countless controversies and in different legal cases. Today, a new economic sanction has been confirmed. The First Chamber of the Club Financial Control Committee (CFCB) has decided to maintain the punishment of half a million euros to the Blaugrana club. The events occurred last July. The news of a financial fine by the CFCB broke. The reason was 'an erroneous declaration, in fiscal year 2022, of profits from the disposal of intangible assets that are not relevant income according to the regulations.'

The highest body of European football is based on its regulations to not recognize as fundamental income those from the sale of television rights. These gains correspond to the first lever activated, in 2022, to improve its economic solvency. The agreement was reached with the American fund Sixth Street, for a total of 521.5 million euros. Likewise, other European clubs such as Manchester United, Konyaspor and APOEL were sanctioned for declaring minor balance deficits.

Barcelona has no other solution

Therefore, FC Barcelona must pay the amount established by the CFCB, estimating that these were irregularities for which it was the only one to blame. Likewise, UEFA states “that this is the last time that this chamber evaluates clubs on the basis of the “old” Club Licensing and FFP regulations.” From now on, it will be done taking into account the new approved standards.
