His ambition includes all areas of the Blaugrana club: social, sporting and economic.

In two months and seven days, Joan Laporta will complete his third year as president of FC Barcelona. It was on March 7, 2021 when the elections were held after a hasty departure of President Josep Maria Bartomeu. Then, thanks to the vote of 30,184 members, he achieved a comfortable and democratic victory against the 16,679 culés who opted for Víctor Font.

Faithful to Christmas tradition, the Barça president has confessed to SPORT his three wishes for next year. One sports, one social and one economic. Three wishes that if fulfilled will ensure that the president finishes his term. What's more, if he achieves them, he will run again. Laporta sees himself as president for many years. He dedicates his life to the club and enjoys the position like a child with new shoes. Despite all this, he has no external opposition and within the club there is no one to blame him.

Furthermore, he lives in the comfort of having an environment that protects him and the pre-electoral movements are very green. Víctor Font has left the door open to appear again, but his role is very weak. The rest of the partners who raise their voices from time to time, like Jaume Llopis, seem to seek more prominence than anything else.

The first is that on November 29, Barça will play its first match at the Spotify Camp Nou. In other words, Limak complies with the announced deadlines and the pitch and part of the Camp Nou is enabled for playing and for public access. The second is that titles continue to be won. It won't be easy, but there is a lot of League left and three more titles at stake. Winning two consecutive Leagues would be his main objective, but Laporta does not rule out anything.

The last wish

Finally, his third objective seems the most complicated. It's about meeting the season's budget. That is, earning 859 million euros and making a profit of 11 million euros. All this, without selling more levers and maintaining a competitive team. It won't be easy and there are many who question the club's accounts, but with Laporta nothing seems impossible. So Barcelona's top leader will continue to prioritize the first team, even if that forces him to make unpopular decisions. Perhaps we will see the sale of a star, restrictions on the women's team or more cuts in the basketball section. Nothing scares him after firing Argentine Leo Messi.
