Manuel Neuer has been in the news, but not for soccer reasons. A Munich cab driver, who has identified himself as Hazir S., has expressed to 'Sky Germany' his displeasure with the Bayern Munich goalkeeper. Neuer forgot his wallet in the vehicle with about 800 euros in cash and several credit cards. The driver came to return it to his home, but in return 'only' received a T-shirt from the player.

It all started at Odeonsplatz, a central square in Munich, where the cab driver picked up Neuer and a friend for a ride. "I recognized him right away, but I didn't approach him," adds the driver. Everything went normally until, while cleaning the vehicle, he found the Bayern Munich captain's wallet.

The wallet contained Manuel Neuer's personal documents, around 800 euros in cash and two credit cards. When his shift was over, the cab driver drove to the apartment where he last saw him, but got no answer. Nor did he find him at his personal home, whose address he found out from the ID card. Finally, he was able to hand the wallet to Neuer's manager, who collected his contact details.

In total, the cab driver claims to have traveled about 120 kilometers to return the wallet. His disappointment came when he got his reward. Two weeks later he received a Bayern Munich shirt with Neuer on the back, but no dedication or thank-you note. "The reward is a mockery. I have four children," said the driver.

Poorly 'paid' generosity

The cab driver's complaints are reasonable. For the 120 kilometers he drove looking for Manuel Neuer he would have earned around 400 euros working. By law, he would have been entitled to 34 euros for returning a wallet with that amount of money, according to 'Bild'. Even so, the criticism has been triggered by the cheapness of the Bayern and German national team goalkeeper. Neuer will receive a fixed salary of 18 million euros next season.
