Vinicius Jr has become one of the greatest references of Real Madrid. The Brazilian has had incredible performances with the Spanish team and has been accumulating different achievements such as a UEFA Champions League in 2022 and the most recent La Liga title. However, this season he suffered an injury against Celta de Vigo that has kept him out of action for about a month and a half.

Although his recovery was fast, everything seems to indicate that Carlo Ancelotti did not want to risk his player at all, so in the end his recovery decided to become a little slower than normal. Given this, the player had to settle for watching the defeat of his team from the stands. The injury has prevented the 23-year-old from missing some important matches such as Atletico and the Champions League opener against Union Berlin.

On the other hand, Ancelotti found a reference in attack to replace the winger in Jude Bellingham, however, the British could not demonstrate his quality last night at the Civitas Metropolitano. It should be noted that the player was totally overshadowed by an Atletico defense that seems to have put all its energies into stopping him. Proof of this was reflected in the result.

Despite Toni Kroos' goal, the home team did not neglect Jan Oblak's goal. In addition, it should be noted that two of the three goals of Atlético Madrid were caused by Alvaro Morata, former player of Los Merengues who was formed in Valdebebas and who even had two stages in Real Madrid. Nevertheless, on both occasions it was not taken into account. Also, it seemed that Vini would be back in yesterday's game. Nonetheless, an aspect beyond his injury prevented him from doing so.

Why Vinicius Jr didn't play against Atletico Madrid

According to AS, although Vinicius Jr was initially contemplated to return in the Madrid derby, the player left at the last minute due to a problem that goes beyond his injury. A stomach flu caused Vini Jr to miss the match. However, the player seems ready to return to Real Madrid after a few weeks away and wants to do it in the best way. Similarly, the return of Arda Guler, the most recent jewel of the Spanish team is predicted to be back as well.
