Aymeric Laporte has become the new signing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. The Spanish center-back is leaving Manchester City in a transfer deal that reportedly amounts to around €27 million with 3 season-deal according to Transfermarkt.

His statistics with Manchester City speak for themselves: 180 matches played, 12 goals scored, and 12 titles won, including last season's treble. The player who arrived in England from Athletic Bilbao became a key factor for Pep Guardiola's team.

With this said, in his farewell, Laporte expressed gratitude to the club and the fans for all he experienced at Etihad and stated that it was an honor to wear the Manchester City colors.

After 5 years with the club, The French-born player decided to close a chapter where he was no longer getting many opportunities.

Competition outshined him

According to the Spanish newspaper SPORT, the real reason behind the defender's departure from City was a lack of playing time. Essentially, Laporte wasn't getting many chances to play. In the past season alone, he appeared in only 24 matches, which coincided with one of City's most successful campaigns. Furthermore, players like Ruben Dias and John Stones were ahead of him. The arrival of Joško Gvardiol also left Laporte with very limited opportunities. Nevertheless, Aymeric Laporte is still one of the best central defenders in the world.
